Press Release from Board of School Trustees of the Union School Corporation

On January 19, 2015, the Board of School Trustees of the Union School Corporation placed Superintendent Fred Herron on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into facts as they relate to his performance as superintendent for the Union School Corporation. This paid leave is an interim measure and not a permanent reassignment. It is authorized by Indiana Code 20-28-7.5-4 and will be submitted to the Board for approval as an interim measure in the personnel report to the Board at the January 20, 2015 Board meeting. The superintendent’s contract of employment with the Union School Corporation entitles him to certain statutory and constitutional due process rights. Accordingly, the Board will not be commenting on this matter to ensure that the superintendent is afforded all of the statutory and constitutional due process to which he is entitled.
